PatchCon; Comprehensive Strategy Guide - Part 1

Comprehensive Strategem

SDM Team:

Arcade/Mixed/Endless/100K Mode
- Basic strategy here is cooperation between each character. SDM golems are either extremely durable (Meiling and Flandre) or extremely fragile (Sakuya, Patchouli and Remilia)
- Keep Remilia at the center of the map (near the bookcases) at ALL TIMES. She is a long-range unit and cannot fire shots when the enemies get too close. Keep a few Hong Meilings near her to make sure nothing gets near her.
- As for enemies, when the game notifies you of the type of enemy that will appear on a certain side of the map, take the necessary units near it for quick pickings. Use Sakuya against golems with Flight, Patchy against Melee and Flandre against Danmaku
- If you have a Remilia, ALWAYS guard them with Meilings. Have Flandre chase down Danmaku characters instead. Leave Remilia and Meiling to chew whatever passes through your defensive.
- SDM is quality over quantity. Focus more on level than numbers.

Boss Rush
- This is Meiling's time to shine! Give the quantity and quality emphasis on Meiling. She should arrive at level 6 before anyone else. Why? Self-destruct. Boss Rush means tons of powerful golems that can kill in a few hits, so why not use someone that deals bigass damage when she dies?
Swarm Mode
- Balance-out development between Meiling, Sakuya, and Patchy. Get at least five Remilias guarded by a few Meilings, but no more. Flandre is pretty useless here except for a meaty tank.

Thief Mode
- SPAM SAKUYA!!!

Surround Mode
- Remilia's time to shine! Give emphasis on Remilia's quality and quantity and group them into a ball. Surround them with a lot of Meilings to make sure nothing comes close to them. Keep Meiling's level at least two steps below Remilia's. You can make Patchus but it's really just a small precaution.

TD Mode
- Remilia at the center, Patchy at the turning points and Sakuya anywhere in the middle. Get at least five low-quality Flandres to keep passing Yukaris in check, but otherwise unecessary.

Hakurei Team

Arcade/Mixed/Endless/100K Mode
- The gig with the Hakurei Team is its overwhelmingness in number. Cirno is probably THE cheapest unit in the game; Alice spawns with Dolls, and will spawn more dolls as she gains level; and Suika divides TWICE after the death of a previous form.
- Marisa is THE fastest unit in the game in terms of walking speed. Use her to chase after spawning Flight units and kill them quickly. She also hits RIDICULOUSLY HARD although she does attack slowly. But she compensates for this by having an AoE attack, being able to dodge and being able to move and attack faster when near-death. Definitely utilize her to the fullest.
- Pretty standard gameplay, although with slight changes. Emphasize quantity for Cirno - she is nothing but a meat shield in this mode. Emphasize quality for Marisa, at least until level 3 when she gains Dodge. Emphasize quality on Suika because her train price is quite expensive. As for the two remaining, balance them.
- It's useless to use Alice for a spawnlock. She and her dolls will just eat the space and cause loss in attack power. Use Marisa for spawnlocks instead, plus she runs faster. Group all Alices near the bookshelf to prevent enemy Marisa rush and to fully utilize her volume.
- Spawnlocks: Reimu against Melee, Marisa against Flight and Suika against Danmaku. Assist with Cirnos against boss golems

Boss Rush
- Emphasize growth for Suika to PWN en masse bosses
- Don't use Cirno at all

Swarm Mode
- Emphasize quality and quantity for Marisa.
- Balance everybody else as well, though keep them a bit lower in the ladder compared to Marisa
- Protect your Marisas

Thief Mode
- It's Cirno's time to shine! Get a LOT of Cirnos and place them near the entrances. Have the bookshelves be protected by a few Marisas
- Hike Cirno's level to 6 as quick as possible.
- While having just a single Alice out, level her group up to at least level 3. Then get the rest out but leave them near the bookcase. Why? Enemies don't attack. Alice only spawns dolls upon respawn. So if you get an Alice early then level her up to 3, then she would still have 2 dolls and would have so until the end of the game.
- Have at least 10 Cirnos at each opening. It's recommended.

Surround Mode
- Use Reimu, Suika and Alice. Balance them.
- Marisa and Cirno are useless here. Cirno could be a meatshield though

TD Mode
- Reimu at the edges, Marisas at the middle and spam Alice everywhere else.

PCB Team

Arcade/Mixed/Endless/100K Mode
- If the first set of enemies aren't Flight-typed, immediately create up to ten Youmus! She is by far the best unit in this team with her insta-kill skill and amazing charge speed (best charge speed in the game).
- Keep Yuyuko near the bookshelves with Yukari. When both are at level 6 they are undoubtedly THE BEST combination in the game (better if they have Tewi or Minoriko with them). Yuyuko's AoE insta-kill possession flight attack plus Yukari's Omni-attack and Barrier-and-Burden skill combo basically creates a "join us or die" field around them.
- Youmu has a double job; since Yuyuko is typically kept near the bookshelf in this strategy, she is left to deal with both danmaku and melee types herself. Use Ran to spawnlock flight-types.
- In case of a boss of ANY type, use Youmu to spawnlock insta-kill it. Or better yet, let them go to Yuyuko and Yukari's field and you might just chance with an ally boss golem.
- Try experimenting with Chen. She's a decent tank with a decent attack power and speed.

Boss Rush
- YOUMU ONLY!!!!!

Swarm Mode
- Basically the same strategy as the first, but give more emphasis on Youmu's numbers.

Thief Mode
- Ten lvl 1 Youmus on each entrance and a high-quality mass of Rans near the bookcase should do the trick
- You could also do the Yuyuko-Yukari combo if you think you can do it fast enough.
- Chen is, again, useless here...

Surround Mode
- You can only rely on the Yuyuko-Yukari combo here. Surround the Yuyuko-Yukari ball with Youmus. Keep pumping Yuyu and Yukarin's level up to six while having at least five of each out on the field. After that you can get working on Youmu.
- To add to the precaution measures get some Chens for additional meat shields, but this is generally not recommended as you can get an additional Youmu almost as fast as you can get a Chen

TD Mode
- Station Yuyuko and Yukaris near the turning points for maximum effectiveness. Make several Youmus and station them in the middle to guard against passing Yukaris. Pump Yuyuko and Yukarin's lvl to max, then start getting some Rans out.
- Chen is, again, useless.

PatchCon - Defend the Library!

Patchcon_cover.jpg

Being unable to bear the frequent raids by Marisa,
Patchouli Knowledge was determined to strengthen the defenses of the library.
Faithful and strong soldiers were needed in place of the worthless maids.
With that thought in mind
Patchouli set into order the manufacturing of golems
which when infused with the hair of certain proprietors
successfully took both their form and abilities.
At that time, protection of the library was supposed to be certain...
Except someone had stolen the clay doll manufacturing process
and most of the Scarlet Devil Mansion has been over-run by these rival dolls.
Patchouli, using the dolls she has created,
stands now to defend the last stronghold which is the library.
